July 4: Independence Day

Did you know three Presidents of the United States died on July 4th? Thomas Jefferson and John Adams  were the last surviving members of the original American revolutionaries.  They both died hours apart on Independence Day 1826. Supposedly, the final words from John Adams were, "Thomas Jefferson still survives." But since the communication was a lot slower back then, he had no idea that Jefferson died five hours earlier.  As for the third President who died on July 4th, it was James Monroe but in 1831.

July 8: Video Game Day (not to be confused with National Video Games Day on Sept. 12)

Fun Fact: The very first video game ever invented was a simple table tennis game.

July 10: Teddy Bear Picnic Day

A fun way for your kids to share a meal outside this summer with a “friend” is a Teddy Bear (named after President Theodore Roosevelt) picnic.

July 14: National Macaroni & Cheese Day

July 16: Fresh Spinach Day

What's so great about spinach that it made Popeye strong? It's packed with vitamins A, B, B6, E, C, and K, as well as being an incredible source of folate, potassium, and most notably iron.

July 18: National Ice Cream Day

Did you know? Americans eat more than 23 pounds of ice cream every year — we're the top ice cream consuming nation in the world.   Here's another fun fact: Immigrants at Ellis Island were served vanilla ice cream as part of their "Welcome to America!" meal.

July 20: Moon Day

Moon Day celebrates the day that man first walked on the moon, July 20, 1969.
