Georgia Apple Festival | Tips for Apple Picking with Kids | Apple Recipes
In Georgia, apple picking season begins in late August and the U-Pick season typically continues through mid/late-October, depending on the weather. We recommend calling ahead to see what varieties are in season when you plan to go. And, for those who don't feel like picking apples, but want to celebrate everything "apple," check out the Georgia Apple Festival (Ellijay, GA), October 12th - 13th, October 19th - 20th this year.
BJ Reece Apple Orchard

Activities: Offers U-pick orchards, a country bakery, petting farm, pony rides and much more.
Dates/Hours: U-Pick - August 24-October 31. Monday-Saturday: 9am to 6pm. Sunday 1pm to 6pm
Prices: $8-$26. Monday-Friday general admission is $8 per person and includes u-pick admission, farm slide, petting zoo, corn box, and rubber duck race. Sat & Sun Farm Fun is $13.00 and includes: farm slide, corn box, pig races, petting zoo, wagon ride, and cow milking. Super Fun admission is $18.00 and includes: Farm Fun, plus jumping pillow play time & cow train ride. Mega Fun admission is $26.00 and includes: Farm Fun, Super Fun and 3 apples to shoot at the cannons, pony ride (under 70 lbs), scavenger hunt and mega slide!
Hillcrest Orchards

Activities: Small children will especially enjoy picking from Hillcrest’s dwarf trees with apples hanging well within reach. Swimming Pig Races - 12:30 daily. Cow milking 11:00 daily. Petting farm, wagon rides playground, giant slides, trike rides, jumping pillows, ball zone, soccer challenge, ping pong, corn hole, zipper swings, Spinning Charis, Giant Bubbles & fairy tale trail. Entertainment on the Stage begins at 1:00 on weekends.
Dates/Hours: Aug 31 - Oct. 31 - 9:00am - 6:00pm, and Nov.1 - Nov.30 - 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Prices: Weekdays $14 per person (walking age and up), Weekends $22 per person. General Admission required before entering u-pick area.

Mercier Apple Orchard

Dates/Hours: Sat 10:30am -5:00pm; Sunday 1pm - 4pm. September – November or until all the apples are picked.
Prices: $11.25 plus tax admission. Children 2 and under are free. includes a Tractor ride to and from the orchard, an apple from the Orchard, a cup of apple cider, an apple cider doughnut, 3 flowers, playground for the kids, admission to Pumpkin Patch. Rate for additional apples. Taxes not included: Quarter Peck- $6, Half Peck $10, Peck $20, half bushel $34.
