Georgia Apple Festival | Tips for Apple Picking with Kids | Apple Recipes
In Georgia, apple picking season begins in late August and the U-Pick season typically continues through mid/late-October, depending on the weather. We recommend calling ahead to see what varieties are in season when you plan to go. And, for those who don't feel like picking apples, but want to celebrate everything "apple," check out the Georgia Apple Festival (Ellijay, GA), October 14th - 15th, October 21st - 22nd this year.
BJ Reece Apple Orchard

Activities: Offers U-pick orchards, a country bakery, petting farm, pony rides and much more.
Dates/Hours: U-Pick - August 26-October 29. Saturdays: 9am to 6pm. Sundays 1pm to 6pm
Prices: Farm Fun admission is $13.00 and includes: Farm slide, corn box, pig races, petting zoo, wagon ride, and cow milking. Super Fun admission is $18.00 and includes: Farm Fun, plus jumping pillow play time & cow train ride. Mega Fun admission is $26.00 and includes: Farm Fun, Super Fun and 3 apples to shoot at the cannons, pony ride (under 70 lbs), scavenger hunt and mega slide!
Hillcrest Orchards

Activities: Small children will especially enjoy picking from Hillcrest’s dwarf trees with apples hanging well within reach. At the "Apple Pickin' Jubilee" you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch our swimming pig races, and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage.
Dates/Hours: Sept. 3 - Oct. 31 - 9:00am - 6:00pm, and Nov.1 - Nov.30 - 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Prices: Weekdays $12 per person (walking age and up), Weekends $18 per person. Includes apple tree maze, pig races, cow milking demo, the petting farm, wagon rides and all our playgrounds - including the giant slides, kiddie corn maze playground, trike rides, jumping pillow and the new shooting gallery. General Admission required before entering u-pick area.

Children 2 and under are free. Rate for additional apples. Taxes not included: Quarter Peck- $6.00, Half Peck $10.00.
