Center Stage Dramatics

...more than just a theater program

By Maggie Peters publisher for MK Coweta/Fayette April 13, 2026

Center Stage Dramatics is a welcoming and inspiring space where young performers discover confidence, creativity, and the power of storytelling. Through structured classes and hands-on productions, students are introduced to every aspect of the theatrical experience, from auditions to final performances, all within a positive and encouraging environment. The program is intentionally designed to support both beginner and intermediate actors, helping them build essential life skills like public speaking, teamwork, and perseverance while fostering a love for the performing arts.

One of the most unique and impactful aspects of Center Stage Dramatics is its commitment to inclusivity. As a no cut program, every student who auditions is cast, ensuring that each child has the opportunity to shine on stage. This philosophy reinforces the idea that theater is not just about performance, but about growth, collaboration, and confidence-building. Weekly classes guide students through acting techniques, vocal instruction, and even elements of dance, giving them a well-rounded introduction to musical theater and stage performance.

That supportive and engaging approach was clearly on display in their recent production of Stone Soup. The show opened with the simple but powerful cue, “Lights please!”, immediately drawing the audience into the magic of live theater. As the story unfolded, a central theme emerged....sharing and community. Students didn’t just perform their roles; they explored the deeper meaning behind the story, asking and answering the important question: what is the moral? Through this process, the performers demonstrated that storytelling can be both entertaining and meaningful.

The production itself highlighted the creativity that defines Center Stage Dramatics. With something as simple as “magic stones” and a pot of soup, the cast brought to life a story that emphasized generosity and teamwork. It was a reminder that great theater doesn’t rely on elaborate sets or effects, but on imagination, collaboration, and heart. Among the standout performances, the character of the Mayor truly captured the audience’s attention, delivering a memorable and engaging portrayal that added energy and humor to the show.

Ultimately, Center Stage Dramatics is about much more than putting on a play. It is about giving young people a place to grow, express themselves, and learn valuable life lessons through the arts. Whether stepping on stage for the first time or continuing to develop their skills, students leave the program with greater confidence, stronger communication abilities, and a deeper appreciation for the power of performance.
