Abby’s Angels Foundation

By Maggie Peters MK Publisher Coweta/Fayette April 9, 2026

In the heart of Coweta County, one local nonprofit continues to transform heartbreak into hope. Abby’s Angels Foundation was created in August 2013 to honor the life and legacy of 9-year-old Abby Bacho, whose generosity and spirit continue to impact thousands of lives today. After tragically losing her life on Christmas Day 2012 due to a distracted driver, Abby gave the ultimate gift—organ donation—saving four lives. Today, her legacy lives on through a foundation rooted in love, service, and community connection.

A Mission Built on Love and Purpose

Abby’s Angels Foundation exists to provide hope, encouragement, and tangible support to children and families, while also spreading awareness about two life-saving causes: safe driving and organ donation.

What makes this organization truly special is how it channels Abby’s joyful spirit into meaningful programs that directly impact the community.

Key Programs Making a Difference

Abby’s Closets
These colorful, welcoming spaces are located in schools across Coweta, Fayette, Heard, Carroll, and beyond. Abby’s Closets provide students with new school supplies—but more importantly, they offer encouragement, confidence, and a belief that every child can succeed.

Teen Driver Safety (TVOC Program)
With a mission to prevent tragedies caused by distracted driving, the foundation sponsors the Teen Vehicle Operations Course (TVOC). This hands-on program teaches young drivers critical accident-avoidance skills both in the classroom and behind the wheel.

College Scholarships
Each year, five $1,500 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who have completed the TVOC course and demonstrate a commitment to safe driving and positive impact.

Child Grief Support
Through a partnership with Kate’s Club, Abby’s Angels helps provide free grief services to children and teens navigating the loss of a loved one—an essential resource for families in the community.

Organ Donation Awareness
Inspired by Abby’s own life-saving gift, the foundation actively educates and encourages others to consider becoming organ donors.
