Family Fun Places to Visit- Fayette Environmental Education Center

By Brittany Covington, Macaroni KID Mom June 3, 2024

Are you looking for family friendly indoor and outdoor fun? The Fayette Environmental Education Center (FEEC) is a local resource to explore nature in Georgia. The FEEC, a non-profit dedicated to conserving nature through public areas and educational programs, is located next to the Fayette County Library.

Here are five reasons why you must visit the FEEC for your next family adventure:

1. Community Events

Events at the FEEC are designed for you to learn and experience! Guests of all ages are able to participate during events and explore both the indoor and outdoor space. The FEEC offers educational programs throughout the year for the community.

2. Welcoming Trail

The first impression of the FEEC (from the library entrance) is the marked trail. You are immersed in the experience of nature as you take a short walk along the path. Upon entry you have a full view of what to explore including the playground.

3. Nature Center

As you take a peaceful stroll at the nature center, you may see butterflies in the garden or toads hiding between rocks. Then head indoors for hands-on learning in one of the many exhibits such as the monarch station or ocean pollution.

4. Animal Ambassadors

It’s wonderful that Fayette County has a learning center that offers hands-on education, animals included. The animal ambassadors are a favorite with little ones when visiting the FEEC. With the goats and chickens in the outside exhibits and the turtles and snakes in the indoor exhibits, your family will want to visit again.

Pro Tip - Pack a lunch and bug spray, and plan to stay awhile, as there is much to explore.
