The timeless holiday classic runs at The Legacy Theatre November 10th-December 17th in Tyrone, GA.
Written by David Ives and Paul Blake, White Christmas is based on the beloved, timeless film of the same name. The heartwarming stage adaptation features 17 Irving Berlin songs including ‘Sisters’, ‘I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm’, ‘Count Your Blessings’, and, of course, White Christmas.
White Christmas follows World War II veterans, turned Broadway song-and-dance stars, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis. Following their tour of duty, they are touring the country with their act, when they collide with The Haynes Sisters, another performing pair. With romance in mind, the two follow the singing sisters to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. Faced with a heat wave, and the challenge to produce a hit show to save their commander’s Inn, what ensues is a story filled with love, loyalty, and dazzling musical numbers. White Christmas the film was released in 1954 starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Vera-Ellen, and Rosemary Clooney. It quickly became the highest grossing musical of all time.
The show is directed by Rachael Endrizzi, who has directed several shows for Legacy including Shout! The Mod Musical, and Always…Patsy Cline. White Christmas is choreographed by Kristina Bryan, who has appeared in several Legacy shows (Pelagius, The Little Mermaid) and music directed by CBD who has worked extensively for Legacy and other Atlanta theatres. “I think the holidays bring a longing for nostalgia, and spending time with family and friends. This show is perfect for that,” says Artistic Director, Mark Smith. “It’s a show that makes you laugh and cry, and allows you to leave the theatre filled with holiday spirit. This has been our fastest selling holiday show, and I think audiences are ready for a timeless, heartfelt show this winter.”
Grayson Yockey and Caleb Peters star as Bob Wallace and Phil Davis. Yockey was recently seen in Legacy’s Pelagius and The Little Mermaid, and Peters most recently appeared in The Little Mermaid. The Haynes Sisters are played by Taylor Cardiff (Betty) of Tennessee, and Amy Van Dyke (Judy) from Michigan. Both are making their Legacy theatre debuts. The show features several Legacy favorites including Bert Lyons (The Little Mermaid/The Wizard of Oz), Chelsie Burks (The Little Mermaid/Pelagius), Evan McLean (Pelagius/The Little Mermaid), Robbie Kirkland (The Wizard of Oz/Sound of Music) and Andrew Stovall (Sound of Music/Matilda). The cast also includes returning performers Avery Ernsberger and Christie Lamb; Ally Carlsten, Payton Harper, Zack Olds, Brennan Parker, Sydney Peebler, and Ali Ramsaier are making their Legacy debut. The role of Susan Waverly will be performed 2 weeks each by Rene Takahashi, Sofia Caldwell, and Camden Petrello.
