A few facts on Ovarian Cancer:

  • #1 deadly cancer of the reproductive system
  • 5th leading cause of cancer related deaths in women
  • Approximately 22,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year
  • Five-year survival rate of 39% and 17% with detection in stage 3 and 4 respectively
  • 15% of cases detected in stage 1
  • 80% of cases are diagnosed in late stage 3 or stage 4
  • Currently there is no accurate diagnostic tool for early-stage detection. Symptoms are vague and often brushed off as other ailments.

Our names are Kimberly Airhart and Andrea Sisler. We were both diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2020. We are both wives, mothers and survivors. Kimberly is a wife and mother to five children, and Andrea has four children and a granddaughter. When we were diagnosed, ovarian cancer was the last thing on either of our minds.
