Dare to Enter McRitchie’s (Family-Friendly) Haunted Mansion!

October 12, 2021

McRitchie’s Haunted Mansion, presented by the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, is back for the 2021 Halloween Season! McRitchie’s Haunted Mansion is a family-friendly haunted house honoring the spooky, ghostly, and mysterious aspects of Coweta County history.  This year’s Haunted Mansion will be held on Saturday, October 23 and Saturday, October 30 from 4pm to 7pm.. The event is proudly sponsored by Kyle Kahn Studios.

Halloween brings tricks, treats, and the perfect time for museums to celebrate the “spirits” that still roam their halls. The Haunted Mansion tour is a family-friendly event with a low "scare factor." Actors play the ghosts in each room and carry out a vignette as guests walk through the home. The “haunted scenes” pays homage to the history of the house with vignettes inspired by the history of Newnan and Coweta County (with a little added Halloween spookiness for fun!). Guests will not only enjoy seeing the house filled with “spirits” but will get a chance to see never before displayed items from the Historical Society’s archive collection.

This year’s haunted story tells of Mayhayley Lancaster, Oracle of the Ages, and her lost objects that “haunt” the museum’s hall. You never know what you might encounter when these objects come to life!

In 2019, the McRitchie Haunted Mansion saw over 300 guests, and this year promises to be bigger than ever! The Haunted Mansion will be held on October 23 and 30 with the first tour beginning at 4pm. Lines for the Haunted Mansion will close at 7pm each night. Tickets for the Haunted Mansion tour are $5 per person (adult and children). Parking is available at the museum and at the University of West Georgia.

Make sure to also attend our partner events! MainStreet's Spirit and Spice Festival is being held on October 23 with Twisted Trolley Tours ending at the McRitchie-Haunted Mansion. Book It South will also be holding the Oak Hill Cemetery tour on October 23 and October 30 at the McRitchie-Hollis Museum.
