Description:

Bloom operates programs to protect and enhance the lives of children who have been the victims of abuse, neglect or other tragic circumstances.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  1. The Bloom Closet - Volunteers are needed to sort and hang clothing as well assist parents and foster children when they shop in the store.Clothing Drive Organizers - Groups and volunteers are needed to organize community clothing drives.
  2. Foster a Child - Become a foster family with Bloom and provide temporary care to a child in need
  3. Become a Respite Family - Provide short-term care for foster children when their foster parents are temporarily unavailable due to illness or travel. 
  4. Fundraising and special events volunteer
  5. Donate to our cause - Become a monthly donor to help support foster children on an ongoing basis

LOCAL LIBRARIES


Description:

Teens can volunteer at the local public libraries. The minimum age for most is 14 years.

Volunteer Opportunity:

  • Cleaning books, magazine area or shelves
  • Emptying book drops
  •  Packing and opening shipments to/from other libraries
  • Putting books, audiobooks, CDs & DVDs on shelves in alphabetical and numeric order
  • Scanning shelves to ensure items are in the proper order and properly arranged

NEWNAN CARNEGIE LIBRARY (1 LaGrange St., Newnan)


Description: 

The Carnegie serves residents of all ages and backgrounds with a non-circulating reading room, children’s area, and meeting spaces enhanced by an art gallery. It offers print and electronic materials, services, and programs to adults and children to enrich daily lives.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers should be ages 13+.

MIDWEST FOOD BANK (220 Parkade Ct., Peachtree City)


Description:

As a large Food Bank, we provide close to 1 million dollars’ worth of food free-of-charge each month to other nonprofit organizations such as; food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters

Volunteer Opportunities:

Individuals and families can volunteer by contacting our volunteer coordinator, at 770-486-1103. Volunteer projects are set up based on the capabilities of the individuals/groups that come to serve. All ages are welcome. We only have age restrictions on our Distribution days (Minimum age 14). Families can also help support us by making a monetary donation. Every $1 Midwest Food Bank receives is turned into $30 worth of food donated.

NEWNAN COWETA HUMANE SOCIETY (91 Selt Rd., Newnan)


Description:

Newnan-Coweta Humane Society is an all volunteer, non-profit organization, dedicated to reducing the number of pets euthanized at Coweta County Animal Control. Through rescue, foster programs and community awareness, our goal is to one day eliminate the euthanization of healthy, adoptable animals in our area.
 
Volunteer Opportunities:

NCHS welcomes new volunteers! We have a variety of needs and enjoy parent-child volunteer teams. Volunteers are always needed to help with foster care, adoption day setup, transporting, photography, and dog walking at the shelter. In addition, we’re always looking for help with fundraising, education outreach, special events, grant writing and many other areas.

Description:

Promise Place provides comprehensive domestic violence services. Promise Place offers emergency shelter, 24 hour crisis hotline, crisis intervention, safety planning, legal advocacy, weekly support groups, children’s programs, emergency needs assistance, and community education.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Families can assist with donations, shopping for groceries, and fundraising activities.

ROYAL ANIMAL RESCUE, (414 Jenkins Rd, Tyrone)


Description:

Pets arrive in our care from a wide variety of situations. Some are rescued from municipal shelters as strays; others are surrendered to our care due to no fault of their own; and some are rescued from neglect or abuse situations.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Families can participate with dog walks, community events and community service days.

SOUTHERN CONSERVATION TRUST, (305 Beauregard Blvd, Fayetteville)


Description:

The Southern Conservation Trust elevates nature through exceptional stewardship through over 65,000 acres of conserved land and public lands throughout the southeast, including 6 public nature areas in Fayette County, Georgia and the Fayette Environmental Education Center. We don’t just believe in protecting land, we believe people should have equal access to enjoy it.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Opportunities vary depending on the need, but may include trash pick up, trail and nature maintenance, gardening, photography, help at community events.
