WIN: Passes to Fun Junction USA

South Atlanta's Place for Go Karts, Mini Golf, Rides & More

By Roni Singleton Jeter September 28, 2012

We were recently invited to come out and review the newFun Junction USA (formerly Dixieland Fun Park) in Fayetteville, GA.

This is not the park I remember from years ago. Fun Junction USA has expanded, transformed and is now a bona fide amusement park offering visitors more than two dozen rides, mini-golf and a gigantic indoor play park with Laser Tag, arcade games, and a Playmaze. Plus, as one of the park's managers told me, they are always finding ways to expand with new attractions. So expect even more to come soon!

Because it was very hot the day we went, I can't tell you enough how glad I was to know that they have a huge indoor facility where parents and kids can go to beat the heat and have lots of fun at the same time.

When I say this place is huge, I'm not kidding. They have a 3D Simulator Ride, full arcade rooms, Laser Tag, a separate food area with lots of places to sit and eat, party rooms and one of the best indoor Playmazes I've ever seen!

As a parent what I loved about this Playmaze is the fact that it is enclosed with a staff person situated full time at the entrance. And there are lots of places for parents to sit and relax while watching the kids do all the "hard" work!

What my daughter loved was all of the different slides and tunnels and climbing structures it offered. There are all sorts of nets and little hidden fun spots for kids to enjoy. I will say, that for a three year old, it was a very challenging structure so young kids will find it interesting and not easily bored. I also saw several kids younger and older than my own all having fun on it. So it's great for a wide range of ages (as long as they're small enough to walk or crawl through those tunnels!

My child could have been there for literally two hours if we let her, but after a good 30 minutes, I finally suggested that we go check out the rest of the park!

So what would an amusement park be without rides - rides that fit the interests of all ages of course? And Fun Junction has just that - rides. Since my daughter is only three, we didn't test the thrill rides out as a family, but from the standpoint of most crowded, I'd have to guess and say the most popular seemed to be the Drop Zone, which takes you up 35 feet in the air and then drops you pretty fast, and theGo-karts

Also, there were plenty of screams and laughs coming from the classic Scrambler and The Spider rides. But the one that amazed me the most, and managed to get me and several other bystanders just watching up in awe, was the Scream 'n Swing. It's like a arm that moves back and forth like a pendulum. It's pretty thrilling to watch.

Finally, the thrill seeker in me, couldn't resist getting on theScream'n Eagle Coaster (and so did another mom who sat solo in the car behind me and who we had seen several times throughout the afternoon with her family).

So, I have been on some monster coasters in my time, and this one, didn't look as ferocious. But from the second after that first dip, I learned looks can be deceiving! So parents, this one looks like it could be fairly tame as coasters go (no loops or twists), but if you have kids that aren't quite roller coaster aficionados they may need to ride with you!

While there's plenty to keep older kids (and even parents) engaged as long as your family decides to make its stay at the park, one question parents with much younger kids often have is, "will the park have enough to keep my younger children entertained too?"

The answer is yes. As I mentioned there is the Playmaze within the indoor facility, but there are also plenty of rides devoted to the littlest members of the family. And the little guys and gals we saw were having just as much fun as the older children running through the park.

Fun Junction USA certainly lived up to my expectations, and in some ways exceeded them. This park has really expanded since its predecessor.

Living in South Atlanta, Fun Junction USA is a short drive and well worth a regular visit since wait times for rides are not long at all, and the diversity of the rides offered should satisfy every member of your family. Plus, their flexible family pricing means that you can decide whether you want to purchase passes for all day unlimited rides, or just spend a few dollars for tickets on individual attractions.
