Monkey Joes Teams Up with Alex's Lemonade Stand

June 10, 2015

When Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was diagnosed with childhood cancer just before her first birthday, was four, she told her parents she wanted to set up a front-yard lemonade stand. Her plan: to give the money to doctors to help them find a cure.  Her first “Alex’s Lemonade Stand”, held with the help of her older brother, Patrick, raised an astonishing $2,000 in one day. While bravely fighting her own cancer, Alex continued to set up lemonade stands every year. Alex passed away in 2004 at the age of eight.  However, her vision to find a cure for all children with cancer lives on through the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).

In May, Monkey Joe's announced their partnership with ALSF.   Located in Newnan, Money Joe's is a children's entertainment center filled with indoor jumps, slides and obstacle courses. They have generously agreed to host an in-store lemonade stand to boost ALSF's fundraising efforts during Alex's Lemonade Days, which will be from June 12 until June 14.

According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, every year an estimated 250,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide.   The campaign will encourage parents and children to join Money Joe's in building awareness and raising funds for a cause that affects so many lives.
