Pumpkin Festival, ChiliFest & Trick-or-Treating Downtown Fayetteville

October 15, 2014
Fayetteville Main Street is pleased to announce multiple events happening in Downtown Fayetteville on Saturday, October 25 with entertainment throughout the day.

At the Gazebo, residents can shop at an extended Market Day that runs from 10am until 5 pm.  With over 80 vendors, it should be easy to find special and unique, handcrafted gifts to help get a head start on holiday shopping.  Joyce Waits, Main Street Program Manager, says that Market Days have been well received within the community.   “Many people this year have enjoyed shopping at Market Day where vendors have sold their homemade and homegrown products in record numbers.  This will be the last Market Day of the year.”

That same weekend also hosts a long-standing tradition for kids of all ages.  The Great Pumpkin Festival and Trick or Treat on Main Street will be a fun spectacle around the square as families come downtown to enjoy hay rides, train rides, face painting, games and sightseeing of the hundreds of decorated pumpkins that will be on display across the street at the Old Courthouse lawn throughout the week leading up to Halloween.

These activities will be interspersed between the Market Day vendors, and kids will be able to visit the vendor booths and downtown businesses for trick-or-treating from 3:30 – 4:00 pm.

The kid’s costume contest will begin at 4pm for children ages 13 and under, with prizes awarded in different age groups.   Main Street has also partnered with Spinal Bifida of Georgia to include an additional kid’s costume contest ages 13 and under (wheelchairs and walkers welcome).  Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place.  Contact Rebecca Joiner at rmjoiner678@gmail.com for more information on this special event.
Just across the street on the old Courthouse lawn from 12pm-4pm that same day, the annual ChiliFest will showcase many local homemade chili samples for sale.  Olde Courthouse Tavern will also have a beer garden on the grounds.  All proceeds will support the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
