MacKid Review: Medieval Times Atlanta

By Michelle Schwab August 20, 2014
My family recently experienced Medieval Times Atlanta for the first time. I’ve seen images of the knights and expected a show.  I also knew they provided a meal, but I really didn’t know what to expect.

From the minute we walked into the castle, there were things to see and do.  We immediately were given a crown to wear.  The king even took time out of his busy schedule to knight those celebrating special occasions.

When it was time to enter the arena, the color of our crown determined where we sat and which knight represented our table.  We ended up cheering for the red and yellow knight.

Dinner was a four-course meal.  In fact, we had so much delicious food to eat that we were stuffed!

The show included jousting and horsemanship, and was a mixture of suspense and comedy.  The knights competed in games and battle to determine a winner.

There’s even a “bad guy” to make things interesting.  The story is interspersed with beautiful displays of equestrian skills, as well as falconry.

In short, it was a wonderful experience.  Medieval Times has something for everyone in the family.

Know Before You Go:
  • Arrive early.  The castle opens 1 hour and 15 minutes before show time.  Seats are assigned on a first come first serve.
  • While you wait to be seated, enjoy knighting, browsing the Medieval Times wares or visiting the torture chamber.
  • Medieval Times is very accommodating with food allergies and restrictions.  My family has gluten sensitivities.  We were provided fruit in exchange for the “pastry of the castle,” which our neighbor said was a fruit turnover.
  • Be prepared to eat with your hands. (Warm wipes are provided at the end of dinner).
  • It can get loud.  If someone in your family is sensitive to noise, it would be wise to take ear plugs.
  • Take some extra cash for gratuities.  The servers do a fantastic job and do provide an opportunity for patrons to thank them.
  • You will need (and will be given) a box for dinner leftovers.
