Just weeks before the Girl Scouts’ Centennial Camporee, Atlanta-based publisher Gallopade announces the long-awaited release of a new children’s mystery. The Giggling Ghost Girl Scout Mystery, from author Carole Marsh, is recommended for all readers (scouts and non-scouts alike) between the ages of 6-12. This highly anticipated book will put readers’ scouting skills into action to solve a mystery filled with giggles, goosebumps, and “s’more.”
Following the success of her January 2012 release, The Baffling Baseball Mystery, Marsh was inspired by the Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary celebrations this year. She spoke of the book for the first time on her Facebook page a month before its planned release and received an outpouring of excitement from fans, media and the scouting community.
When asked during a recent interview if the mystery was written just for scouts, Marsh replied, “Heavens, no! I think the scouts stand for a lot of good things that are good for a lot of people. Honesty, friendship, and respect don’t get a whole lot of screen time these days. Let’s give those good qualities some attention.”
In the story, four friends head to Savannah, GA for the National Camporee in celebration of the Girl Scouts’ 100th Centennial Celebration. As they begin exploring the historic city, they stumble upon creepy clues that lead them to River Street, a spooky cemetery, on a ghost tour, and even to the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low.
Savannah is also Marsh’s home, where she spends much of her time writing children’s books. Carole Marsh has been writing educational fiction for children since 1979. Her books have been honored with numerous awards, including the Teacher’s Choice Award from Learning Magazine, the iParenting Media Award, and the NSSEA Excellence in Education Award.
