Cause for Korey

March 14, 2012

The Cause for Korey helps the family of Korey Latham, who was born August 5, 2009. In June of 2011, Korey had a tumor in his stomach, which was wrapped around his kidneys. He was airlifted to Egelston Hospital (Children's Healthcare of Atlanta), where he was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. Due to the tumor surrounding his adrenal glands, doctors were unable to save one of his kidneys. He currently is undergoing radiation therapy in Atlanta.

Activities You Can Do With Your Kids that Help the Cause for Korey

The Cause for Korey fundraisers help Korey’s family with medical expenses and other expenses related to his illness.  There will be a fundraiser at Monkey Joe’s Newnan on Thursday, March 15 from 4-6 pm.  If Korey’s feeling well, you may even get to hangout with this playful two-year old.

On Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. a Family Fun Event will be held at the American Legion, 130 Veterans Club Dr. in Newnan.  Kristie Bales has organized this day of crafts, face painting, inflatable fun, and great food.   In addition to a cake walk and lots of activities for children, the event will also have concessions available for purchase including hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Publisher’s note:  We’d like to thank the Georgia Aquarium for working with Macaroni Kid and generously donating tickets for Korey and his family to visit this past weekend.  Korey loves fish and he had a wonderful time!  I would highly recommend the Georgia Aquarium as a very kid-friendly, fun, learning enviornment.  If you visit the Aquarium in the near future, please be sure to thank the staff for their kindness and generosity.
