While it seems that video games are the rage, there is a lot of published research supporting the benefits of families playing card and board games together. Both card and board games are linked in research to better math skills in small children. Both create opportunities for face-to-face play, conversation, taking turns and following rules.
So when it gets too cold to go outside, what can a family do? Well, play a board or card game, of course!
Many of my family’s favorite games have come from SimplyFun. By limiting approximate time to complete a game to 30-minutes, SimplyFun has designed its games to fit into your busy life and to be engaging for young and old alike so that you may experience those special moments with your loved ones.
One of my favorite features about their website is the Advanced Search Feature that you can take to find the right board games for your family. Simply choose a category (Parent, Grandparent, Educator, Therapist, even Autism Needs) and then answer a few short questions to receive several suggestions.
SimplyFun "play products" are offered exclusively through a SimplyFun Independent Consultant, in the comfort of your own home, at a SimplyFun FUNdraiser and online on their website www.SimplyFun.com.
I was provided a complimentary sample game for review purposes and for the Toy Time party that we hosted with other Macaroni Kid moms and dads. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
