Friends of Coweta Library Story Writing Contest

The Friends of Coweta Library is hosting a student story writing contest in conjunction with its 2015 Annual Author Party featuring historical fiction genre writers.
 
ENTRY CRITERIA
· Write a short Historical Fiction genre story (1,000 - 2,500 words)
· Design a corresponding book cover
· Writers & Illustrators must be in 3-12 grade
· Multiple youths may collaborate on the entry and split the prize
· Entries must be
   * Typed, Double-Spaced on Single Sided, 8.5”x11” Paper
   * Bound in a Sliding Bar Report Cover w/ Clear Front
· Include a page featuring the following information for each writer/artist of the entry
   * Name
   * Home Address – street address, city, state, zip code
   * Telephone Number
   * E-mail Address
   * Age & Grade
   * School Attending
 
JUDGING CRITERIA
· How well characters, setting, plot, conflict & theme are developed
· How well the illustrated cover depicts the story
 
DEADLINE
Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 6:00p.m.
 
SUBMIT TO
Any of the four Coweta Public Library System Libraries—Central, A. Mitchell Powell, Jr., Senoia and Grantville.
 
One first place winner from the three levels of competition – Elementary School, Middle School, and High School – will be selected and awarded a $50.00 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.  An Honorable Mention Certificate will be presented to the second place winners.  In addition, winning entries will be displayed on the Coweta Library’s website.
 
Winners will be announced at the Friends of Coweta Library 2015 Author Party on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 7:00p.m. at the Coweta Public Library System —Central Library (85 Literary Lane, Newnan, GA).
